๐๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ผ๐ป Symphony No. 2 op 30 "Romantic"
Experience the premiere of Malaqatin Meetings, a new symphonic work for the South Kansas Symphony and the Multifarious Trio. Part of Dr. Susan Mayoโs ongoing cultural exchange project Yakja Hona, this piece fosters cultural dialogue between Pakistan and Kansas, reflecting the "sweetness, struggle, and resilience" of Mayoโs own cross-cultural life. By blending Western classical structures with Eastern improvisatory traditions, the performance honors South Asian patterns through sound and sight. The three movements feature stunning visual projections by artist John Harrison, whose manipulated Pakistani designs directly inspired the music's motives and structure.
This new piece will feature cellist Susan Mayo, soprano saxophonist Courtney Long, violinist Tim Snider, and alto saxophonist Dr. Michael Christensen as soloists.
